Ayurvedic Tips For Staying Cool During The Dog Days Of Pitta Season
In Ayurveda, Summer is called Pitta season because Pitta is the dosha ruled by fire. Thus, during the Summer months, everyone becomes a little "fiery" with sunburn, oily skin, frizzy hair, heat exhaustion, etc. Following are a few Ayurvedic solutions for common Pitta-season conditions:
Soothe Sun Exposure
■Use only the purest, alcohol-free after-sun lotions/gels with a base of Aloe Vera, for its cooling properties.
■TARA Recovery Gel is restorative and fast-acting, combining the healing properties of pure Aloe Vera with the soothing effect of Tea Tree Essential Oil, to help relieve sunburned or irritated skin.
■TARA Rehydrator Lotion is a soothing, all-purpose lotion that combines the healing properties of pure Aloe Vera with nourishing Rosehips to maintain healthy, balanced skin...especially after sun exposure.
Reduce Blemishes and Oily Skin
■TARA Pitta Sensitive Mask is a natural blend of herbs that provides soothing, cooling relief to easily irritated, delicate or sun-exposed skin, while reducing redness.
■Follow with a thin application of pure Aloe Vera gel as a natural toner. Leave on for 3-5 minutes, then rinse off with cool water.
Control Frizzy Hair
■Massage in 2-3 teaspoons of Coconut Oil and leave in for 2 hours or overnight, then wash out.
■Or, try TARA Herbal Infused Hair Oil, which is a complete deep moisturizing and balancing product, that also reduces dehydration in the scalp.
Chill Out
■The quickest way to lower your core temperature is to take a coll bath. Adding a few drops of TARA Sandalwood or Rose Essential Oil to the water helps to extinguish the overabundance of Pitta that accumulates in the body during a hot Summer day.
■While soaking, enjoy the ultimate internal cooler, chilled Coconut Water (the clear liquid from the center of a fresh coconut).
